Counselling in Shrewsbury and online

Somewhere to put it down for a while.

Quiet the mind•Lighten the load•Find the joy

Person-centred counselling in a private room in central Shrewsbury, or online, wherever feels safest to you. The first step is a free introductory call, with no obligation to book anything further.

You do not have to arrive with it all worked out

Modern life keeps us moving, achieving and pretending we have it all together. When you are carrying old hurts alongside today's pressures, simply keeping going can take everything you have. Feeling anxious, exhausted or stuck is not a flaw. It is a sign that your mind and body need somewhere to put it down.

Claremont Counselling offers a space to slow down, unpack what you are carrying and begin to make sense of it. You can take the mask off here and look at what is really going on, past and present, without judgement.

Think of your counsellor as a guide and a sounding board, there to help you find your own answers rather than hand you someone else's.

Therapy didn't just help me cope. It made me see the colour in the world again.

How it works

Three quiet steps, at your pace

Getting in touch is often the hardest part. Nothing that follows commits you to anything you are not ready for.

01

Get in touch

Send a short email or give us a call, whichever feels easier. You do not need to explain everything. A sentence or two is plenty.

02

A free introductory call

We arrange a call at a time that suits you. It lasts around ten minutes and is a chance to talk through where you are now and what you would like to be different, and to see whether we are the right fit to work together. There is no charge and no obligation.

03

Your first session

If it feels right, we book your first 50 minute session, in person in central Shrewsbury or online. From there, we agree together how often to meet and for how long.

What we help with

What people bring to us

Clients come to Claremont Counselling with a wide range of difficulties. Some of the most common are listed here, though this is far from a complete list.

Many people arrive without a clear sense of what sits behind how they are feeling, and that is entirely usual. Helping you understand it is part of the work, not something you need to have done in advance.

  • Anxiety
  • Stress, at work and at home
  • Depression
  • Low self-esteem
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Trauma
  • Abuse
  • Grief and loss
  • Feeling stuck
  • Burnout

Not sure whether counselling is the right thing, or whether what you are dealing with is "big enough"? It is. Bring it to the introductory call and we will talk it through.

Our approach

Person-Centred, which means you lead

Person-Centred counselling rests on a simple idea: you hold the key to your own change. We will not set an agenda for you or tell you what to think.

Your counsellor walks alongside you, offering steady attention, honest reflection and a space where nothing you say is too much, too messy or too late to bring. You set the direction and the pace. Sometimes that means talking something through in detail. Sometimes it means sitting with something for a while until it becomes clearer. Both are the work.

It is an approach built on patience, trust and the belief that people already hold the answers they need, even when those answers are buried under everything else.

Who you will be working with

Charlotte Morris, founder and counsellor at Claremont Counselling

Founder and counsellor

Charlotte Morris

Qualified Person-Centred counsellor, Individual Member of BACP

Charlotte began training as a Person-Centred counsellor in 2018, in an approach built on patience, trust and the belief that people already hold the answers they need.

Her own experience of therapy, over the best part of two decades, is what drew her to this work. She knows what it is like to sit on the other side of the room, and how much difference a genuinely non-judgemental space makes.

Outside the counselling room, Charlotte's career has been built on relationships: difficult conversations handled with care, negotiation, and understanding what people need even when they cannot quite say it themselves. She brings all of that into every session, with one aim in mind. Not just helping you get through, but helping you thrive.

Jane Butler, counsellor at Claremont Counselling

Counsellor

Jane Butler

Qualified Person-Centred counsellor, Individual Member of BACP

Jane's warm and professional person-centred counselling approach offers connection, empathy and trust when life becomes overwhelming. It is a space where you can slow down, be heard, and explore what matters to you at your own pace. She will not tell you what to do or what to feel. Instead, she works alongside you, with honesty and respect, as you find your own way forward. Through her own personal counselling, Jane understands how powerful a safe space to explore what is going on for you can be.

Jane is also an experienced healthcare professional as well as a parent carer, with lived experience of SEND, learning disability and neurodivergence. She knows how exhausting and isolating it can be to advocate for someone you love, to navigate complicated systems, to complete never-ending paperwork, and to lose sight of your own needs along the way. If you are a parent or carer, or if you are neurodivergent yourself, you will not need to explain or justify your experience.

Counselling with Jane is a space to be yourself, or perhaps discover yourself, without needing to be strong, organised or coping. Whatever brings you here, you are welcome.
